Ah, the strelitzia - native to my country, and commonly called the "crane flower" here. I have one growing in my garden... :)
I think these are amazing photos of a plant named after a bird that might resemble them. The colors are very nice. Your hand was steady. I like kerry-anne's description too "crane-flower."
