I have no positive identification for the tree but the enlarged view made me think I am seeing those helicopter seeds produced by maple trees. Yet this doesn't look anything like a maple -- the structure is different. So I am not sure. It is a nice photo with some crisp details.

Baby raccoons. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I love photos, such as this one, in which the tree creates a mosaic-like quality against a blue sky.
In some ways the green of the smaller tree to the right detracts from this effect, although it does add a sense of scale.
Really though the twisted shapes of those bare branches could well be turned into an abstract image of great impact.
