Attack of the Plants

Looks like a scene from a B-movie. We shall call this movie "Attack of the Plants". We humans are doomed!

Our Pride and Joy

Furry plant

Anyone has any idea what kind of plant this is? We think it's a

desert plant or maybe a carnivorous plant (like the Venus flytrap).

Theater Entrance

This is the roof of the entrance way to the AMC Theatres at Downtown Disney. Technically, Downtown Disney is located in Orange County, south of Los Angeles County.

Hanging flowers

Anyone has any ideas what kind of flowers these are?

Unfurling fern

We found an unfurling frond of a fern. Try saying that three times fast!

Water Lily

The Huntington Library, Art Collection and Botanical Gardens has one of the most extensive botanical collections in the world, with nearly 120 acres and 15,000 kinds of plants from all over the world.

Decorative Agave

This Agave Attenuata (see, we did our research this time!) is another popular LA garden decoration. In fact, this was taken in our neighborhood!

Weeping Willow?

We want to say this is a weeping willow tree, but we are not sure. Anyone has any ideas?

Taroland

This is a root vegetable, not unlike potato.

Cactus Pears

Cactus, a popular backyard/frontyard ornamental plant, can be colorful when "flowering" these pear-like flowers. These cactus pears are edible.

Garden Steps

These winding, descending steps lead to one of our neighbors' beautiful backyard and garden.

Sugar Cane

Sugar cane plants, even though a tropical plant, will thrive in South California because of the mild weather. All we had to do is add lots and lots of water. For more info on sugar cane, check out wikipedia.com.

The contradiction to the story is LA has gotten less than 3" of rain since July, 2006 (hence the Hollywood fire a couple of Fridays ago).

Fruit Tree?

It's a gigantic fruiting weed!!

"California" Daisies?

Not sure about the flowers, but they look like daisies. Can anyone confirm it?

BTW, notice the ubiquitous palm tree.
